Ragdolls are large, docile cats. They are sweet-faced and should have a muscular build but with an overall impression of elegance and balance.  Most have a medium-long, non-matting coat with a soft texture like rabbit like fur.

They are pointed in colour (like Himalayan or Siamese) and appear in seal, blue, chocolate, apricot and lilac points with or without white markings.

In the past few years we have been experimenting with tortie's and bi-colours to add even more variety to our cats.

Boredom is not a problem for animals in their natural environment but once confined to an enclosure or a backyard it is a completely different story.
That is why it is important to enrich their environment. That means giving them lots of things to do that allow them to use their instincts.
Interactive toys provide great entertainment for cats.
Scratching is one of your cat's most ingrained instincts. Keep a scratching post near where the cat usually sleeps or, if he has already picked out a corner of your sofa, keep it next to that chosen spot. You may need to train your cat to use his scratching post. Do not pick him up and put his paws on the scratching post (that will only make him want to avoid it). Make the scratching post appealing to him: rub catnip on it or mist it with catnip spray; drape a heavy string (a long leather shoelace works great) over it and wiggle it to catch his interest; put treats on the very top.

Bathing cats is necessary for show cats and some long haired varieties.
It is best start them young.
This is from a Cat magazine years ago: "Best way to bath a cat is find an old window screen, place it in the tub or sink, the cat will dig its claws into the screen and stay there the entire time of bathing. It works, I have done it."
